Our History

At FMP, our mission is to increase the number of public pickleball courts to enable the Muskego Park & Recreation department to better support existing and future community demand.

Our Vision

Our Mission

Muskego was on the leading edge when it built 4 dedicated pickleball courts approximately 10 years ago. Today, due to the rapid growth of the sport, these courts are being used during the spring, summer and fall from sun up to sun down. These four courts only accommodate up to 16 players simultaneously, yet are used by hundreds of Muskego Park & Recreation program participants, and hundreds more players during open play. Each year, the Park & Rec program turns away players wanting to participate in its pickleball program because of the limited court capacity. Consequently, the Friends of Muskego Pickleball(FMP) group was formed to work with the city to address this gap.

FMP recommends building a new complex accommodating 16 courts with a total project cost of $1M, including restrooms and other park improvements. As a result, FMP is launching a $500,000 fundraising campaign to co-fund the project with the City of Muskego. FMP has opened an account with the Waukesha County Community Foundation, a 501c(3), so donations are tax deductible.

Our vision is to partner with the City of Muskego to build a 16 court pickleball complex, creating an inclusive environment for all ages and skill levels to enjoy the game and improve their physical and mental well-being. In addition to relieving existing demand pressure, the complex would be capable of generating revenue from hosting additional recreation program participants, classes and tournaments, and permit more “open play” opportunities for all ages and skill-levels.

Moorland Park has been identified as the most likely option for the pickleball complex. A conceptual drawing is provided below
